Multi Faith Week
This week has been multi faith week. The quality of work produced by all the children across the school, is exceptionally good. Please take time to ask your children about what they have learnt, as the chldren are very proud of their work.
School Year 2014/15
Procession of the Sacred Heart - the procession and Mass was held on Sunday 14th June 2015 and was attended by children, parents/guardians and staff.
Nursery/Reception May Procession - Our Foundation Stage children enjoyed celebrating the month of Our Lady with a May Procession around the grounds of Maryvale Institute on Friday 15th May 2015. Everyone who joined in commented on how well behaved and respectful the children were.
Lentern Charities - Children have been raising money by selling cakes, collecting change for the Father Hudson Boxes and raffle tickets for Easter Eggs. The total amount raised is £540.00. This money will be split between, Father Hudsons, Acorns Childrens' Hospice and St Mary's Hospice.
27th March 2015 - Easter Bonnet Parade - Following the raffle for the Easter Eggs, there was an Easter Bonnet Parade, watched by parents.
20th March 2015 - Mufti Day - Children wore their own clothes, with the theme being 'odd socks'. £213.60 raised to support the 'Down's Syndrome Awareness' (Proud Charity).
19th March 2015 - Parish Sisters and Ben Neville, Lay Chaplain at Cardinal Wiseman. Years 3 and 4 received a special visit from the Parish Sisters who taught a song about offering up their hearts to Jesus. The children also learned some American sign language and they also sang at the Family Mass on the 22nd March 2015.
17th March 2015 - Saw the confirmation of our Y6's by Bishop Robert Bryne.
17th December 2014 - Christmas Carol Service at Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Our KS2 children led us into the season of Christmas with their carol service. All the children read and sang (in English, Spanish and German) beautifully.
9th & 10th December 2014 - KS1 Natvity & 16th December 2015 -Early Years Nativity Productions - The productions were beautifully performed by all the children involved and enjoyed by all.
Christmas Activities - A number of events and collections were held during December, i.e., Charity Christmas Jumper Day (12.12.14). All children and staff came in Christmas jumper/clothing, and collections after the Nativity plays. Total monies raised £233.70, which was distributed as follows:
CAFOD - £117.00
SIFA Fireside - £116.70
28th November 2014 - School Christmas Fair - Organised by PTA. A big thank you to PTA and all who supported the Christmas Fair. £1,200 was raised to fund activities and resources for the children in school.
25th November - Pensioners Party at Maryvale Community Centre - Maryvale School Choir put on a performance at the Community Centre for the Pensioners Party. The choir sang beautifully.

Archbishop Tadeus and Father Sharples at KS2 Mass - 27th November 2014
14th November 2014 - His Excellency Archbishop Tadeusz Kondruisewicz visited our children at Maryvale. This was his Excellency's first visit to England, and also to a Catholic school. I am sure you will all agree, what an honour this was for our school. His Excellency also held Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church with our KS2 children.
11th November 2014 - Remembrance Day Service - Our Y1 children were led by Ben Neville, our Chaplain from Cardinal Wiseman School in a very reflective prayer service. They were joined by parents, grandparents and friends. The children were very respectful and grown up.

Father Hudson’s Society – developing as the social care agency of the Catholic Archdiocese of Birmingham, offers services to people in need, in order to improve their quality of life.
CAFOD – is the official aid agency of the Catholic Church, who bring hope and compassion to poor communities, standing side by side with them to end poverty and injustice.
Acorns – is a charity offering a network of care for life limited and life threatened children and young people, and their families. Children and young people who are not expected to reach adulthood and require specialist care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
St Mary’s Hospice – providing vital care to patients and families with incurable illness across Birmingham and Sandwell.
Proud – is a parent led support group which was set up by parents who have children with Down’s Syndrome.
SIFA Fireside – is a Birmingham based charity who work with the most vulnerable adults in our society, those experiencing homelessness or who are vulnerably housed. Adults who are also affected by alcohol, facing mental and physical health problems.
